Welcome to the West Kootenay Pony Club!
The West Kootenay Pony Club is one of 180 across Canada and was re-established in January 2011. The club offers a comprehensive educational program in riding, horse care and stable management to young person’s up to the age of 21.
It focuses on the development of English riding such as Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country Jumping.
“Loyalty, Character, and Sportsmanship” is the Canadian Pony Club motto and is intended to represent the goals of the organization for active members. Members learn to be responsible, confident, motivated horse people, with a high degree of knowledge and skill in equestrian arts. Everyone has an opportunity to learn leadership and teamwork, make many new friends, and understand their responsibility as horse owners and /or riders.
Our pony club is entirely run by volunteers, most of which are parents or even grandparents of pony club members.
There is no general requirement that a child must own a horse/pony in order to join Pony Club. Lessons are available and offered by a certified Equine level one coach.
We meet in January to April for Stable Management classes in Nelson BC.
